Give Yourself a Great Pedicure at Home With These Tips

Give Yourself a Great Pedicure at Home With These Tips

Warm weather is here, sandal season has begun! You not only have to keep your fingernails in tiptop shape, now your toenails need the same attention. Below, you will find tips on how to do a salon look yourself. Do you want to know how to give yourself a great pedicure at home with these tips? Keep on reading!

Prep

The first step it to soak your feet. You can either fill a bucket or your bathtub with warm water. This is optional but you could add things like essential oils or a foot treatment to the water for a soothing effect.  You should keep your feet in the water for about 10 - 15 minutes. Doing this will soften the dead skin on your feet.

Buff

The second step is to buff your feet. To buff your feet you can use a pumice stone or exfoliating scrub. You want to scrub your feet lightly in small circles, your main focus should be the rough parts of your feet. This will loosen the dead skin and make your feet extremely soft. After you finish buffing, take a towel and dry off your feet.

Shape your nails

The third step is to shape your nails. You can use nail clippers and a file to get the shape you want. You can also push back your cuticles if need be, but be careful not to nick the skin around your nails. Nicking your skin could cause infection.

Moisturize

The fourth step is to moisturize your feet. You can use your favorite moisturizing product. Moisturizing will help rejuvenate your feet after the buffing process. It will also keep them soft!

Time to paint

The fifth step is to paint your toenails. Before you start the painting process make sure to wipe any excess moisturizer off your toenails. Now that your nails are ready to paint, apply a clear coat of polish as a base. Next, choose your favorite color and apply two coats of it. Wait for the color to dry then apply a top coat.

Touch Ups

After your nails polish dries, you may have to do some touch-ups. If you smudged your nail polish or got some on your skin now would be the time to fix them. If your nail polish has gotten smudged you can take a wet q-tip to smooth it over. To get rid of nail polish on your skin you can simply use nail polish remover or baby oil to easily remove it from your skin.
